The issues due to a lightning strike at the Amazon data centre have been fixed and all sites are running normally.
EDIT: Please see below a brief summary of what caused the downtime:
Amazon's services are organized into "Regions" which are further split into "Availability Zones". These are physically separate facilities with independent power, networking, etc. HammerKit's disks were placed at the the eu-west-1 (Dublin) region containing three Availability Zones. The lightning strike that took our disks down affected one of these zones. We had to install new servers from scratch and deploy content to them from backups. This was the quickest solution as Amazon could only offer a recovery time between 24-48h.
We have taken precautions and are now restructuring and strengthening our server setup to avert from potential incidents.
Best,
Your HammerKit team
Hi,
hard to say anything exact. Hopefully it will be resolved in the upcoming hours. I'll let you know as soon as I hear more.
Any guess how long it's going to take?
