Barcelona Brings Together the 25 Best

This week we were priviledged to be one of the 25 companies selected by investors as the most promising investment prospects in Europe Hammerkit at the Eurecan European Venture Contest This week we are travelled to Barcelona to pitch before an audience of global VCs and investors at the Eurecan European Venture Contest (EEVC). We were excited to be representing the web design community and creating awareness within the international investor front.

HammerKit was first chosen among the top 10 Nordic growth companies at the Nordic Venture Forum in Copenhagen on October 19th. We were then thrilled to receive the news that HammerKit was also selected among the TOP 25 finalists from among 102 pre-selected companies.

To be nominated by investors as one of the most exciting technology companies in Europe is a real honor. This proves that we are definitely on the right track. The visibility from EEVC arrives at a perfect moment anticipating our upcoming release of HammerKit Studio, the new generation web service design tool to be launched in January 2010. Moreover, such events offer us a great chance to keep our pitching instruments in top shape.

About the Contest

The European Venture contests are aimed at private life science, ICT and clean tech businesses demonstrating cutting-edge technological innovation, high growth potential and international aspirations. The purpose is to help the companies face funding and strategic challenges across the versatile European market. Participants receive detailed feedback on their strategic strength, while being able to meet and greet some of Europe's most active early stage investors.

Throughout the year 2009 European companies have been presenting themselves to panels of international serial entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and corporate investors in different Venture Forum events held all across Europe. The juries assess the companies’ commercial potential, team experience, competitive position, product merit and technological development, interest in investments or associations.

The year long cycle of venture forum events then culminates in the Eurecan European Venture Contest where the TOP 25 will compete of a hefty sum of €90.000.

Boosting European wide flow of investments

The four past EEVC events have featured more than 500 companies. Many of the previous finalists have since successfully raised capital and expanded their business. This proves that these kind of events are very useful forums for gaining access to active venture capital investors as well as visibility to multinational corporations. Finding, evaluating and awarding world-class innovative companies also contributes to increasing European competitiveness and growth as a whole.

William Stevens, CEO of Europe Unlimited - the main organiser of EEVC, points out that “entrepreneurship is alive and well in Europe – times may be tough right now but it is the ideas of today that fuel the businesses of tomorrow. Some of the world’s leading companies were born during challenging times and they grew strong as a direct result.”

Amen to that!
